In all of my TUBA cases since 1992, well over 1200, I have never seen any permanent marks, scars, tracks, dents or other such deformities from the tunnels under the abdominal skin after the TUBA procedure.
However, there are surgeons who say that they have seen patients who have such marks. Strangely, despite many requests I have made, no one has been able to locate an actual photograph to forward to me as I have requested. It is noteworthy to me that every one of those cases mentioned had been done by a surgeon not fully trained or experienced in the procedure, and most were not even certified plastic surgeons. One was a very early case done by the inventor of the TUBA, when it was in the experimental stage.
The only explanation that I have been able to imagine could cause such marks or tracks would be if somehow the abdominal skin were damaged in some way. My opinion is that proper training of the surgeon would keep such an event very rare, and perhaps prevent it completely.
It is definitely possible that there will be short-term changes in the area of the abdominal tunnels, but these are nothing to worry about. Such short-term changes include small firm areas under the skin, or fluid build-up in the tunnels, which is easily taken care of by using a needle in the office. I have had patients with these temporary things, but no permanent marks.
