Pregnancy and breast-feeding strongly impacted the abdomen (as well as the breasts) of this woman from the Cleveland area. She requested a tummytuck, and during the same anesthesia, breast implants inserted via the navel, :

Dr Dowden did a full tummytuck for her, with skin tightening as well as cinching the muscles to help narrow her waist and flatten her abdomen to a more youthful contour. (At the same time he performed the transumbilical breast augmentation [TUBA] procedure for her.) Eventually the tummytuck scars fade to quite pale. (44420)

This patient had done everything she could to lose weight and tone up her abdominal muscles, but still had a very convex abdominal contour.
Dr Dowden performed a tummytuck (abdominoplasty) for her, tightening the skin and cinching her waist effectively. It took about a year for her scar to fade in color. (05204)

Although this woman had some excess skin and fat of her abdomen, her main problem was the great stretch and relaxation of the abdominal muscles after pregnancies.

Dr Dowden had her lose weight and then he performed an abdominoplasty for her, removing loose skin and excess fat, and cinching together and tightening her abdominal muscles, which greatly flattened her abdominal contour, and narrowed her waistline. Note the high lateral scar she had requested. (06616)

After weight loss this woman found her excessive lax abdominal skin annoying, not just because of the wrinkled appearance, but also because of the bunching that occurred when she was seated.

At her tummy-tuck (abdominoplasty), Dr Dowden removed a considerable amount of the excess skin (note how far down the small mole below the navel was shifted downward), smoothed out the remaining skin, and tightened the muscles (note how the waistline was cinched in somewhat). (31550)

One characteristic of a woman's abdominal skin is the ability to stretch to a remarkable degree. The downside of course is that after pregancy or weight loss, there is excess stretched skin, as in this woman.

She requested a high-lateral-scar type of tummytuck, to permit the scars to be hidden under a French-cut swimsuit, and that is the technique that Dr Dowden performed for her. The effect of tightening her muscles can be seen in the decreased size of her waist. (34029)

This woman from Pennsylvania wanted to have her excess abdominal skin removed, and at the same time have breast augmentation through the navel (transumbilical).
Dr Dowden performed her tummytuck, and at the same operation he placed breast implants - under the muscle 260cc each - through her navel ("TUBA") to avoid other scars. At the time of her after photo, her scars were still red, but faded over the following year. (41723)

This young woman from northeast Ohio had done everything she could in terms of working out to try to tighten her abdominal muscles after pregnancies, in particular a very high number of situps and crunches each day.
She is seen here only 2 months after Dr. Dowden performed her tummytuck, and the flatter contour is apparent. She had requested he scar be placed quite high at the sides due to the type of swimsuit she preferred. Her scar faded after another 6 months. (11172)

After child-bearing, this woman from northeastern Ohio had excess abdominal skin, excess fat, and stretched lax abdominal muscles. She consulted with Dr Dowden, and was determined to be a good candidate for a tummytuck (abdominoplasty).
At operation, Dr Dowden removed excess skin and fat, and cinched together the lax muscles, giving her the contour she used to have before pregnancies. (38976)
