I just know I had made the right decision when I chose Dr. Dowden to correct the utterly repulsive area on my body that was supposed to be an abdomen. I went from excessive amounts of horrifyingly stretched, marked, sagging skin on my abdomen to the abdomen of a teenager, flat, smooth and beautiful. To Dr. Dowden and staff I wanted to officially thank you for making my BA such a wonderful experience. It took me some time to process my fears, as you know. During this indecisive time you and your entire staff continued to be supportive of my decisions and extremely understanding! I appreciate your total honesty during my three consults. I always knew it was a major decision that only I could make, which turned out to be the most difficult part of the whole experience. The “thinking” and “waiting” wasn’t fun to go through, and most of the gals indicated that they also felt it was the hardest part. My recovery has went very smoothly, and I have you to thank for that. After seeing my pictures only one day post-op compared to others who chose a different doctor, it became very obvious to me why you come so highly recommended. I actually was wearing a one-piece swim suit on the weekend of my first check up while staying in Cleveland and felt that I looked natural. I’m a much happier person, which in turn makes the kids and hubby happier as well. Hubby and I have grown even closer, since I’m no longer ashamed to have intimacy with him. Is EVERY patient pleased with our practice?? Of course not. Our practice is just not a good match for some patients. Patients who are not happy with their interaction with our office do not usually send letters and cards, most often registering their displeasure with a telephone call. In the spirit of full disclosure, here are the negative letters, comments, and calls we have received.
Dr Dowden: I have a complaint. I was in your office for more than 4 hours measuring for the size for my new implants. As I told your nurse the next day, I decided to have my surgery somewhere else that is cheaper. When I called your office three weeks later to find out from your nurse what size implant to tell my new surgeon to use, she told me you dont keep that information if a patient doesnt have surgery with you. That is just not acceptable. XNNNNN
I told your nurse I wanted only a chin lift and she said I had to come in to see the doctor. When I did see the doctor, he said I needed a facelift!!! That is false pretenses and I should get my $125 refunded to me. XNNNNN
I told the nurse on the phone that I did not want to come in if the doctor was not going to agree to do my operation. She said I had to be examine first so I came in. After an hour the doctor said he was not going to operate on me. I feel cheated. XNNNNN
I explained to the nurse that I wanted liposuction and I was not going to lose weight first. She said I had to come in. The doctor said that he would not do the liposuction unless I lost the weight first, just exactly what I told the nurse I would not do! I completely wasted my time and money because of your nurse. XNNNNN
If you are not on with Medicare, what good are you? XNNNNN
I have always been very sensitive about my weight. I resent paying $70 just to be told that I would have to lose weight before I could have the surgery. Who do you people think you are anyway? XNNNNN
A friend of mine told me I could get free breast implants from your plastic surgeon. Now you tell me I can't. You should not mislead people like that. XNNNNN
I expected the facelifts you do would take off 15 years, but my friend had her facelift with you and only looks about 8 years younger. You should give her back half her money. Anyway that is why I am going somewhere else. XNNNNN
I am way too busy to come in to your office on weekdays. I will not be a patient of any doctor who does not have Saturday hours. Your office needs to have more understanding. XNNNNN
I told the nurse that I did not want to fill out your registration form and that I had no intention of doing so. She said I could not see you unless I filled out the forms first! That is ridiculous so I left. XNNNNN
I was a patient of Dr. Dowden 20 years ago. So I should get a discount. Why can't your office show more consideration? XNNNNN
It was his receptionist that gave the wrong information. Shirly was just mean about it. Rather than ask the receptionist and fix the problem she just treated me like I was wrong. Getting this in writing just prevents that from happening to anyone else and trust me this has been a terrible experience. The sad part is I was looking forward to using Doctor Dowden but he upset the balance of trust between patient and surgeon because of one staff member - that is not professional. XNNNNN
I am very disatisfied and dissapointed with your practice. Doctor Dowden said I had to lose weight before he would do the operation, and besides he is not on with my insurance plan. And then when I asked for referral to another doctor who is on my insurance plan, he said I had to read my insurance booklet myself, he couldnt tell me. Your office is not very helpful you know. You should give me back the money I paid for my consulting. XNNNNN
I am not going to show you my photo ID, and I am not signing any papers! Why do you think you have any right to ask me to? I dont care about losing the $90 fee, I just care about getting to my class on time. You people are aggravating and making me late. XNNNNN
